AHMEDABAD, India (Reuters) -Officials from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) surveyed the site of Air India plane crash that killed at least 271 people, sources said on Sunday, with families continuing to wait for DNA profiling results to identify charred bodies.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met the family members of Rupani and informed them about the DNA match, state Health Minister Rushikesh Patel said.

It could take months to fully understand what went wrong in the crash, the first involving a Dreamliner. Officials from India continued the investigation Friday.

The Air India flight fell from the sky on Thursday and killed at least 270 people in Gujarat state, officials said Saturday.
