New data shows that the self-driving car service has captured more than a quarter of the city’s rideshare market in just 20 months.

Waymo has captured 27% of San Francisco's rideshare market in 20 months, indicating rapid acceptance of self-driving technology. This growth suggests that autonomous vehicles may become mainstream faster than anticipated.

The self-driving taxi company also said its vehicles were in the wrong place at the wrong time in Los Angeles after protesters set fire to several of the cars there.
