Amanda Anisimova has opened up on the main reason she was trounced by Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final. Aside from Swiatek's obvious superiority, the American pointed to issues with fatigue after making a rare appearance in the second week of a Grand Slam.

Amanda Anisimova, the New Jersey-born former phenom who made a French Open semifinals when she was 17 but had yet to break through to a Grand Slam final, will finally compete for a major trophy after the now 23-year-old upset top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon semifinals on Thursday, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.

And despite only being 23, Asinimova has long been touted as a Grand Slam finalist, having won the US Open girls' title in 2017 by beating Coco Gauff in the final. 2019 would prove to be a breakout year, with the then-17-year-old beating Sabalenka in the second round and defending champion Simona Halep in the quarter-finals of the French Open.
