Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a four-hitter for his second consecutive complete game, the first in the World Series since 2015, and the defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 on Saturday night to tie their best-of-seven matchup at one game apiece.
After getting Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground out and Kirk to line out, Yamamoto got Daulton Varsho on a pop out to third base, finishing his second consecutive complete game. He’s the first pitcher to throw complete games in back-to-back postseason starts since Curt Schilling did it in 2001 for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Dodger starter threw the first World Series complete game in a decade to even the series with the Jays at one game apiece.
