Authorities in Cape May County are investigating a crash between a teen dirt bike operator and a town trash truck. The prosecutor's office in an email said that the incident was fatal, however, a press release that accompanied the email did not indicate who died.

A teenager died Tuesday morning in the Villas when he drove his dirt bike into a Lower Township trash truck, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said.

The driver of the garbage truck saw the bike coming and stopped while trying to make a turn, investigators said.

A 17-year-old dirt bike rider died Tuesday after crashing into a trash truck in Cape May County, New Jersey. According to officials, on Jan. 15, around 11:34 a.m. Lower Township Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a collision involving a Lower Township Municipal trash truck and a dirt bike on Bayshore Road near Atlantic Avenue in the Villas section of Lower Township.
