The Chicago Cubs will officially receive their designation to host the 2027 All-Star Game at Wrigley Field soon.

The Twins also receive the Cubs' top pitching prospect, Jaxon Wiggins, who has quickly ascended through the minors. After being drafted in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft, he underwent Tommy John surgery in 2023. Now, in 2025, he’s pitching to a 2.25 ERA across 36 innings with 48 strikeouts in Double-A.

Sun-Times sources confirmed the rollout, which will include officials from all parties, is scheduled for Aug. 1, as Crain’s Chicago Business reported Wednesday night.

After more than three decades, the friendly confines will once again host the 2027 All-Star Game. Sources told CBS News Chicago that the official announcement will be made when Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred visits Wrigley Field on August 1.
