Veteran 49ers DL leaves game vs. Texans in second quarter with injury
The San Francisco 49ers got Alfred Collins back late in the second quarter against the Texans and almost immediately lost another defensive lineman.
The Texans’ latest drive went for 94 yards in 12 plays, with C.J. Stroud hitting Xavier Hutchinson for a 30-yard touchdown. Houston leads 23-7. It shouldn’t be that close, but the Texans are 1-for-4 in the red zone today.
The key is Jones beating the pass rush. The Houston defense is built around its front four getting pressure. Take that away and the 49ers can build long sustained drives and convert in the red zone against this defense. McCaffrey should have success on the ground, but could be limited in the air.
