Knicks, Jason Kidd and The Mavericks

The New York Knicks theoretically have one of the most desirable head-coaching jobs in all of basketball. They have a roster that just came six games short of a championship. They play in the league's biggest market and its most famous arena.
The New York Knicks requested permission Wednesday to interview Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd for their head coaching vacancy — a request that the Mavs denied, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
According to a report from longtime NBA reporter Gery Woelfel, New York is preparing to make a "tsunami-type offer" to trade for Antetokounmpo. In addition, the Knicks may be trying to bring in a favorite of the superstar forward to be their new head coach.
Notably, the Knicks reportedly have not officially asked the Mavericks for permission to interview Kidd, who has two years left on his contract. However, Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reported Tuesday that Dallas is unlikely to grant the Knicks that permission, ending New York's pursuit then and there.
