A crew of 66 firefighters succeeded in containing 50% of the fire as of Tuesday evening. Investigations into its cause are still ongoing.

Mandatory evacuations ordered brush fire burns 30 acres in North County
The Lilac Fire has grown to 30 acres with a slow rate of spread and is 0% contained. The fire was reported around 1:20 a.m. near Old Highway 395 and Lilac Road, according to the San Diego County Fire Department.
