The National Weather Service removed its Tsunami Advisory for the Oregon Coast after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the coast of Russia, and residents were advised to move to higher ground or evacuate the tsunami zone if a Tsunami Warning is issued.

A tsunami advisory has expired for parts of California after an 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula​, prompting concern.

The tsunami advisory for the Bay Area and Central Coast was canceled on Wednesday, according the National Weather Service. Concerns remain for other places along California coast after one of the strongest earthquakes in the planet's recorded history shook a Russian peninsula.

The National Weather Service warns Oregonians to stay away from beaches and off the water until tsunami warnings are lifted.
