AFTER TWO SEASONS of backing up Justin Herbert at Oregon and one pandemic-shortened year in 2020, he entered the transfer portal in February 2021, enrolling at Texas Tech, where he dealt with significant injuries for the first time in his career.
The New Orleans Saints will start quarterback Tyler Shough in place of Spencer Rattler following a 1-7 start to the season.
Shough came in during the second half of the Week 8 loss to the Bucs, and the rookie will now replace Spencer Rattler as QB1.
The Rams are well-rested and exit their bye week with reinforcements. Star wideout Puka Nacua expects to return from injury against the Saints:
The New Orleans Saints have informed rookie quarterback Tyler Shough that he will be their starter against the Los Angeles Rams with Spencer Rattler remaining on the bench, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday. Coach Kellen Moore benched Rattler in favor of Shough midway through Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Los Angeles Rams are coming off their bye week, and are getting healthier as they prepare to face the lowly New Orleans Saints.
