Scotland is continuing to be hit by freezing weather, with rain, sleet and snow expected to fall across large parts of the country. Temperatures at Loch Glascarnoch in the Highlands fell to -11C on Saturday night after forecasters extended a yellow warning from 09:00 on Sunday until 12:00 on Monday.

The Met Office has extended its weather warnings for snow across York and North Yorkshire. Heavy snow has hit the region following an amber weather alert for snow and ice. The warning, which was set to last until midnight today,

Heavy snow and ice are expected to cause disruption across Scotland over the weekend, with temperatures forecast to drop as low as -10C. A yellow warning for snow in Shetland is in place until 18:00 while a yellow alert for icy conditions in the Highlands is due to come in to force from 16:00 on Saturday until 10:00 on Sunday.
