Rain delayed the start of the third day’s play in the first cricket test between South Africa and Pakistan with no play possible before lunch.

Ryan Rickelton struck a career-best unbeaten 176 and his captain Temba Bavuma scored 106 as South Africa pummelled Pakistan’s seamers at Newlands to finish the first day of the second and final test on 316 for four on Friday.

Left-handed opener Ryan Rickelton struck his second test century with an unbeaten 106 as South Africa reached 184 for three at tea on the first day of the second and final test against Pakistan at Newlands on Friday.

Contrary to the first game of the series, South Africa opted to bat first. With Tony de Zorzi out with a thigh strain, was pushed up the order. An inside edge saved Aiden Markram from going back to the shed the very first delivery of the game.
