The Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) announced on Friday that it had sanctioned a China-based cybersecurity company, known as Sichuan Juxinhe Network Technology, which it says is directly linked to the China-backed Salt Typhoon hacking group.

The State and Treasury Departments say Chinese cybersecurity vendor Sichuan Juxinhe is behind the hacks into numerous US telecommunications companies.

The espionage hack of at least nine American telecommunication firms — including giants AT&T and Verizon — targeted the Trump campaign, FBI wiretaps and top State Department officials.
