A tornado warning for parts of South Jersey expired as heavy storms moved through the Delaware Valley, leading to severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings for the entire CBS News Philadelphia viewing area.

A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Somerset and Middlesex counties as severe storms start to hit New Jersey on Thursday afternoon. The warning lasts until 2:15 p.m. New Jersey was already under a state of emergency due to flooding concerns as of 2 p.m. A statewide flood watch started runs until 6 a.m. Friday for most of the state.

Acting New Jersey Gov. Tahesha Way declared that a State of Emergency will go into effect in preparation for potential flash flooding, severe storms, intense rainfall and damaging wind gusts.
