A missing skier who was found dead on Saturday was killed by an avalanche in Utah's Uinta mountain range, authorities said.

A 51-year-old backcountry skier died after being caught in an avalanche, Utah sheriff’s officials reported. The man was reported missing after he failed to return home from a solo ski trip at 5 p.m. Friday, March 7, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
