With 2:27 left in the period, the Leafs added to the lead. After the Flyers had a prolonged shift in the offensive zone with several scoring chances, Nicolas Robertson finished off a 2-on-2 rush the other way with his third goal of the season to make it 3-1. Through two periods, shots were 18-14 Toronto.
Through the first two periods against the Penguins, the Leafs put up their ugliest performance yet. Their lack of urgency in the second period was appalling: the Penguins had 34 shot attempts in the middle frame in all situations. The Leafs had just seven.
TORONTO -- Max Domi scored twice, including the tiebreaking goal with 2:04 remaining in the third period, and the Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Calgary Flames 4-3 at Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday. John Tavares stole the puck from MacKenzie Weegar and got it to Matthew Knies, who fed Domi for a shot from the right face-off circle to make it 4-3.
Before going down with an injury, Domi was slated to begin training camp on the top line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies. However, injuries to players such as Scott Laughton derailed those plans until the seventh game of the season, when Berube moved him up against the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 21.
