The National Weather Service released an updated winter storm warning at 3:21 a.m. on Tuesday valid from 4 p.m. until Thursday 10 a.m. for South Central Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains and Southern Oregon Cascades.

PENDLETON — Northeastern Oregon’s unusually tranquil winter is likely to turn a bit wild this week, particularly in the northern Blue Mountains. The National Weather Service office in Pendleton has issued a winter storm warning for the northern Blues,

“The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages,” the NWS warned in its advisory. “Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult to impossible.”
