Viewers will find three active meteor showers from late July into mid August according to the American Meteor Society.

An extraordinary celestial event could unfold in the night sky in less than a decade if an asteroid passing Earth collides with the Moon. The impact of asteroid 2024 YR4 into the lunar surface would likely send debris flying out towards us, resulting in a unique meteor shower composed entirely of moon dust.

"Up to 10% of the lunar ejecta could reach Earth within days," said Paul Wiegert, a planetary scientist and lead author of the study. "The resulting meteor shower could be eye-catching, with meteor rate orders of magnitude above usual background rates."

The Southern Delta Aquarids are one of the most anticipated meteor showers of the summer. In 2025, its activity extends from July 12 to August 23, but its peak will be in the early
