Gov. Greg Abbott said he's ordered the Texas DPS to "locate, arrest, and return to the House chamber any member who has abandoned their duty to Texans."

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered Democratic lawmakers to be brought back to the state capital after they left Texas in a bid to prevent voting on a Republican plan to redraw the state's congressional districts.

However, state troopers may have limited ability to enforce Abbott's order. Under House rules, the Texas House can authorize the sergeant-at-arms to arrest absent members—however, the officials would likely lack jurisdiction once they cross state lines.
