Parts of the United Kingdom have been swamped by heavy rains and powerful winds that disrupted New Year's celebrations.

It’s no surprise that a year filled with extreme weather won’t be going out quietly with stormy conditions on the way for parts of the United States on New Year’s Eve, including some of the most populated areas of the Northeast.

Londoners braved the weather to celebrate New Year in front of the London Eye. The city had strong winds during the night, but the fireworks show continued.
