Separate incidents at West Mesa High School led to two firearms being found and recovered, according to the school district.
School officials say during an investigation for that missing weapon, police learned the name of a student who may have had a weapon on campus at West Mesa High School.
According to court records, 16-year-old Andrew Burson was fatally shot after a fight with Trejo near the West Mesa High School campus. Burson and Trejo were both students at West Mesa High.
West Mesa High School has had two incidents this school year. The first in December, when a gun went off in a woodshop class just before the winter break. No one was hurt.
