A month of bad outings ultimately spoiled Erick Fedde's tenure with the St. Louis Cardinals, who bumped the starting pitcher from their 40-man roster Wednesday.
John Denton of MLB.com shared Cardinals manager Oli Marmol's reaction to the team's decision to designate Fedde for assignment. Marmol praised Fedde and was also candid about why the team cut ties with the 32-year-old veteran.
The St. Louis Cardinals just cut a pitcher who made 31 starts with a 3.30 ERA last year, but is 3-10 with a 5.22 ERA in 2025 and is owed $7.5 million.
