A snow goose in West Philadelphia ’s Carroll Park neighborhood is the city’s first suspected case of a highly contagious avian flu spreading among birds and cattle across the country, Philadelphia health officials said Wednesday.

Public health officials in Philadelphia reported the first suspected case of bird flu in the city on Wednesday after a sick goose found in a West Philadelphia neighborhood was positive for the disease in preliminary tests.

The Georgia Department of Agriculture's (GDA) Commissioner has suspended all poultry farm activities across the state of Georgia, following the first confirmed case of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in chickens at an Elbert County farm.

Georgia is the nation's largest poultry producing state. Last week, bird flu was found for the first time in a commercial poultry plant in the state.
