COLLINSVILLVE, Ill. (WICS) — A Collinsville woman was found dead lying near a garage on Tuesday morning. According to the Collinsville Police Department, at 6 a.m. officers responded to the 1300 block of Olive St. after a report of gunshots being heard in the area.

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has identified the female victim of a shooting in Collinsville early Tuesday. Police had responded shortly after 6 a.m. to a report of gunshots being heard in the vicinity of Olive Street and Indiana Avenue, according to a news release posted on Twitter.

In a neighbor's security camera video, a woman was screaming, three gunshots went off and the suspect ran away from the home.

A neighbor called police to say she thought she heard a shot across the street, then saw a man in dark clothing run off toward Vandalia Street.

The Major Case Squad has been activated after a woman was found shot dead in a driveway on the 1300 Block of Olive Street in Collinsville, Ill.

At this time, Collinsville Police say they do not believe there is an active threat in the area. Anyone with information that can assist the Major Case Squad with their investigat
