The results of the mayoral race that skyrocketed to national attention are in: 34-year-old Zohran Mamdani is projected to be the next mayor of New York City.
Republican Curtis Sliwa appears to have played spoiler in New York City’s mayoral race. Sliwa received 7.4% of the vote with 80% of the vote total reporting, according to the Associated Press. That’s roughly the margin of victory Zohran Mamdani is holding over Andrew Cuomo.
Zohran Mamdani has been elected mayor of New York City, defeating former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who ran as an independent, and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
