Wilmette Public Schools District 39 announced Thursday that a cybersecurity breach has compromised data for approximately 16,000 current and former students and 3,000 staff members.

PowerSchool, a national student software company, announced this week that a data breach may have compromised the personal data of students and teachers in school districts across the United States. Some Vermont schools have already reported being affected.

A number of schools in Connecticut have been affected by a widespread cybersecurity breach involving the PowerSchool Student Information System used by districts across the country and internationally.

A recent cybersecurity breach by a platform P.E.I.’s education system uses may have impacted some people in the province. A Jan. 9 new release from the Education Department said some personal information of students, parents, guardians, teachers and school administrators may have been part of a recent PowerSchool cybersecurity incident.

Both the Greenfield-Central Community School Corp. and New Palestine Community Schools say they are part of a nationwide cybersecurity breach associated with one of their platforms.
