The Air India flight fell from the sky on Thursday and killed at least 270 people in Gujarat state, officials said Saturday.
The mortal remains of Gujarat's former chief minister Vijay Rupani, who was one of the victims of the deadly air crash in Ahmedabad, were handed over to his family members on Monday. His remains were then brought to Rajkot, his hometown, for the last rites.
Officials said they had found the cockpit voice recorder that may provide crucial clues about what caused the Air India flight to crash, killing at least 270 people.
The last rites of former Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani began with state honours in Rajkot on Monday. Rupani was among those who lost their lives in the fatal Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12.
The Air India plane crash resulted in one of the deadliest aircraft crashes in the world, claiming the lives of 241 souls on board and many others on the ground, with only one survivor successfully walking out of the accident scene.
