Liverpool have opened talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over a potential move for striker Hugo Ekitike. The Reds are looking to refashion their forward line this summer with Ekitike and Newcastle United's Alexander Isak their leading targets.

Confidence is growing Newcastle can wrap up the signing of Hugo Ekitike after club officials were dispatched to Frankfurt to finalise the transfer.

Newcastle submitted an initial £69.5million bid for Ekitike which represents a club-record fee. The Magpies’ current record transfer is the £63million paid to Real Sociedad for Alexander Isak in 2022 but it appears they are willing to break it to land Ekitike.
