Dangerously cold temperatures have prompted hundreds of school districts across Southeast Michigan to close for Tuesday, with some also announcing closures for Wednesday. A cold weather advisory is in effect through Wednesday across the region.

School districts across Metro Detroit and beyond announced closures, hospitals dealt with frostbite and falls, while shelters made space for more beds as a blast of bitter cold settled Monday into southeast Michigan.

A cold weather advisory remains in effect for all of Southeastern Michigan through 12 p.m. Wednesday. Wind chill values will drop to between -15° to -25° over the next few days.
