Snow to blast New Jersey this weekend with two separate storms en route
New Jersey faces a wintry weekend as snow chances rise, temperatures plunge and forecasters warn a Sunday coastal storm could bring more disruptive snowfall.
An inch or two of snow isn't enough to shut down the state or make you fire up the snowblower, but it may be enough for slippery travel Saturday and/or Sunday.
Residents in New York and New Jersey may have to bring out the snow gear if they’re planning to venture out during Martin Luther King Jr. weekend. The National Weather Service predicts snow and rain will likely make for a weekend washout ahead of a chilly week ahead.
Snow accumulations will be limited to a dusting to a half-inch in northern New Jersey, but any wet surfaces could turn to ice by early Thursday.
So you will need the heavy winter coat later on Thursday, as wind chills ("feels like" temperatures) likely dip into the teens by sunset. And it will only get colder Thursday night. Overnight lows will bottom out around 20 degrees. Wind chills will be closer to 10. It will be clear, dry, and breezy.
