LOS ANGELES — A magnitude 4.3 earthquake rumbled through Muscoy in San Bernardino County on Thursday morning, triggering shaking across the Inland Empire region, Los Angeles and Orange counties, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A preliminary magnitude-4.4 earthquake in the San Bernardino area produced shaking that was felt over widespread parts of Southern California. The quake, reported at about 9:30 a.m., was one of four of magnitude-2.5 or greater in the area, which includes the communities of Muscoy and Rialto.

The earthquake could be felt in at least Palm Springs and Idyllwild. In south Palm Springs, it briefly shook walls before passing quickly. It was initially reported as being a magnitude 4.6 before being downgraded. There were no reports of damage online in the immediate aftermath of the quake.
