Four wildfires fueled by ferocious winds are now scorching thousands of acres in Southern California, with zero containment as of Wednesday morning. More than 80,000 people are under evacuation orders in the Los Angeles area.

The gusty winds that helped spread multiple wildfires will slow on Wednesday, but dry conditions mean less potent winds could still be dangerous.

At least two fires sparked in Southern California on Jan. 7 amid a “life-threatening and destructive” windstorm event that’s sweeping through the region.
