New York City Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani is visiting his native country of Uganda to celebrate his recent marriage, taking a short break from the campaign trail ahead of the November election.

The Democratic mayoral nominee said Sunday he’ll travel to celebrate his wedding in the East African nation where he lived the first five years of his life.

Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York, said that he and his wife were going to the African country where he was born to celebrate their recent marriage.
