Kelly and Raiders Head Coach Pete Carroll are no strangers. While Carroll coached at USC from 2001-09, Kelly coached in-conference as Oregon's offensive coordinator from 2007-08 and as head coach from 2009-12.

Kelly is returning to the NFL for the second time. He was previously the head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers, holding a 28-35 record combined in both stints. Former USC Trojans coach Pete Carroll has plenty of familiarity with Chip Kelly as the two once coached against each other in the PAC-10 conference when Kelly led the Oregon Ducks.

Chip Kelly said leaving Ohio State to become the Las Vegas Raiders' offensive coordinator allowed him to return to the highest-level of the sport.
