An Illinois jury has convicted a sheriff’s deputy of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Sonya Massey, a Black woman who called 911 to report a suspected prowler.
Sonya Massey called 911 from her Springfield, Illinois, home in July 2024 to report a prowler. Sean Grayson was one of two deputies to respond to the call.
