Thousands of Jamaicans were still without power, water and internet service on Thursday as the government continued to assess the widespread damage from Hurricane Melissa.

Hurricane Melissa caused widespread flooding and devastation across the northern Caribbean, including Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti, after roaring ashore on Wednesday.

Estimates by hazard analysts Enki Research put the bill at £5.8bn.
