Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the U.S. remains committed to playing a leadership role in the IMF and World Bank but wants to see changes.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent spoke Wednesday to international economists attending IMF and World Bank spring meetings in Washington D.C. this week, telling them the Trump administration wants to overhaul these institutions to create a more "sustainable international economic system.

Bessent said the Trump administration would not seek to retreat from those institutions but instead push to play a stronger leadership role and push for major changes to those ins
