This ominous Gothic structure, built in 1866, stopped being an active prison in 1995 and has since been a historic landmark and tourist attraction in Moundsville, West Virginia.

You’ll walk with one of our seasonal tour guides through the oldest portion of the prison, the northern most section of our facility and most known to have paranormal activity.

Also, you are permitted to park along the street in front of the prison north of the parking lot. We prefer that you refrain from parking on the residential side of Jefferson Avenue.

The North Walk will take you through the oldest section of the former West Virginia Penitentiary. We will lead you to North Hall cellblock, the Boiler Room, Psych Ward, and Infirmary.
