While playing at Chicago’s Plugged Nickel in December of 1965, in a fit of creative daring, the members of Miles’ Quintet spontaneously decided to play “anti-music," an unexpected, unplanned action and symbolism of the quartet's artistic freedom. The most requested Miles Davis reissue arrives for his centennial in spectacular style. What began as a holiday residency at Chicago’s Plugged Nickel Café became the crucible where the Second Great Quintet forged its identity. Miles, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams delivered a masterclass in risk and invention, dismantling familiar tunes and rebuilding them on the fly. Originally captured by producer Teo Macero in 1965 and hailed as one of the greatest live jazz sets

Remembering Chick Corea on his birthday. Chick is one of most important musicians to help guide Miles into his electric fusion period. He was a key member of Miles' Lost Quintet of 1969, and briefly one of two keyboardists in his touring band, alongside Keith Jarrett. Chick was a headlining jazz artist and leader in his own right for many years after, and founder of the groundbreaking Fusion group, Return to Forever, and many other bands. #jazz #jazztok #music
