Deep within the rugged valleys of Tasmania’s west coast , Lie the scenes of countless long forgotten gold rushes. In this video I head out to the remote forests in the North East of Tasmania to meet up with local gemstone fossicker and cutter Des Gray. Using gem sieves to classify we will be digging the gravels looking for rare precious stones of the sapphire type. These stones are prized for their rich blue colour and make amazing feature stones for jewellery. | Rob Parsons
