Put your paws together for the Bureau of Fire Investigation K-9 Unit! 🐾 Our dogs are trained to sniff out ignitable liquids and help rescue victims from large-scale disasters. Most recently, the Unit was tapped to make sure there were no people trapped under the rubble of that partial building collapse in the Bronx. All dogs in the unit are named after fallen members. Deputy Chief Raymond M. Downey was Chief of the Special Operations Command on September 11, 2001. He made the Supreme Sacrifice in the line of duty while helping others escape from the fire and collapse scene of the World Trade Center.
