I learned to whistle when I took on a job running a Weimaraner after school in grade 9. This hunting dog needed to run and the only way I could have the job is if I learned to whistle with my fingers in my mouth - since then I’ve whistle-trained all my dogs for their recall. That whistle can be heard for a mile I bet and maybe further. When Buck or Luke hear my whistle, they know it means to stop what you’re doing and come to me right away, and as fast as they can move.
