Recruit Course 100 graduating yesterday was a huge milestone for QFES. More than 1,800 firefighters have passed through recruit training since Recruit Course 1 in 1987 with the skill set of firefighters changing and improving along the way. We have added 22 new firies to the team and celebrated the history of the fire service in Queensland. This is the training QFES Air Operations personnel do to prepare for the unthinkable. A chopper crash into water presents a terrifying scenario in which occupants are strapped in by a harness, often turned upside down, and with limited visibility.
