A remote camera captured the moment an erupting volcano in Hawaii knocked it out while recording. Kilauea is one of the world’s most active volcanoes and has been erupting intermittently since December 23, 2024.

Here's are several facts about Tuesday's eruption. Scientists at the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observation reported in their late Tuesday Kilauea advisory: "Approximately 5 million cubic meters (of lava) were erupted at about 140 cubic meters per second. Lava flows from both vents covered over 60% of the floor of Halemaʻumaʻu within the southern part of Kaluapele (Kīlauea caldera)". That's a whole lot of 2,000 degree lava!! | Tom Skilling
